There are many issues that affect disabled people on a daily basis. It is important that disbaled people's vioces are heard when decisions are taken and services are designed that affect them. This section of the website aims to provide some tools to support disabled people to have their voices heard in policy and decision making.
From time to time, the Scottish Government, and others, ask for the views of individual's and organisations, they "consult", on particular issues. On this page, you will find links to consultations that may be important for independent living and links to the consultation responses , some that the ILiS project has produced on behalf of the ILiS Steering Group and some from other organisations.
You will also find an update on the policy ILiS is invovled in, a series of policy briefings, publications, research and a link to 'Policy Patter' - a policy and parliamentary update for the Independent Living Movement. Some of these will be produced by the ILiS project, on behalf of the Steering Group. You can use these and the consultation responses to find out more about how issues may affect independent living. These may help you consider implications for independent living when you influence policy on it.
